Summer Writing Workshop:
Our writing workshop is a collaboration between the Mercedes Public Library, The City of Mercedes, and our organization. We bring in local authors and work with the library to host a summer workshop that encourages creative potential. Our programming seeks to help youth build confidence, express complex thoughts, and gain new skills through in-person feedback. We are currently the only organization coordinating creative writing workshops in Mercedes, Texas. This program was recognized by the City of Mercedes in July of 2025 for its advocacy of reading and writing.
Fall Writing Submissions:
In the spirit of promoting the voices of creative people in the Rio Grande Valley, we host a writing prompt in the fall in order to gather and showcase their stories. After reviewing submissions, we select a few of the writers to publish in an anthology who highlight the distinctive perspectives that the Rio Grande Valley has to offer.
